Facial volume treatments are used to restore or add volume, improve facial contours, and soften the appearance of lines. The most widely used variety are hyaluronic acid (HA) based, a substance found in the skin that helps retain hydration and structure.
Unlike surgical procedures, facial volume treatments are non-surgical and temporary. Because of this, there is often minimal downtime post procedure. Facial volume treatments must be performed by, or under the supervision of a qualified and registered health practitioner, trained in facial anatomy, product use, and complication management.
Restore volume to areas affected by age-related changes.
Add facial contours such as the cheeks, jawline, or lips.
Reduce the appearance of certain lines or folds.
Provide subtle, temporary improvements without surgery.
Because it’s non-surgical, recovery is faster; most people resume normal activities soon after
Quick sessions with little to no interruption to daily life.
Facial volume procedures are relatively safe when done by a qualified & experienced practitioner using approved products. However, there are possible risks and side effects. Some potential side effects may include:
Swelling, redness, bruising or tenderness at treatment sites, usually lasting a few days.
Minor bleeding or discomfort at treatment sites.
Mild asymmetry while swelling settles.
Infection, if sterility is not maintained.
Allergic reactions, which are rare.
It’s important to note that individual experiences may vary, and thorough discussion with your practitioner is recommended.
The Facial volume procedure generally includes the following steps:
Your practitioner, Linda, will discuss with you your desires, goals and outcomes, review medical history (including allergy history), procedure and set realistic expectations. If you decide to proceed, the area will be cleaned using numbing cream on the treatment areas for 10 minutes before the treatment start.
For the treatment you will be laying down with your head at a 45-degree angle. Using a very fine needle to inject the filler into the treatment areas. The amount of filler, depth and placement depend on your anatomy and goals. Discomfort is very minor, short and ends when the treatment ends. The treatment itself will take about 20 minutes. Most clients are able to return to work after treatment.
Results from facial volume can last from 12-18 months depending on age, skin texture, degree of sun damage, skin elasticity and overall health. You should avoid all strenuous exercise for the first 48 hours. Do not massage or apply pressure to the treated area unless directed to do so and avoid sun exposure and heat for 24 hours. Alcohol should also be avoided for the first 24 hours.

Facial volume might be suitable if you:
Are 18 years or older.
Are in good general health.
Do not have active skin infections or significant inflammation in the treatment area.
Have realistic expectations about outcomes.
Facial volume may not be suitable if you:
Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Have a known allergy to ingredients in the filler product.
Have certain medical conditions or are on medications that increase risk (such as bleeding disorders or anticoagulants).
Have unrealistic expectations or motivations that require further support.
