Lip Volume

About The Treatment

Lip Volume Treatments

Lip volume procedures are non-surgical treatments designed to increase lip volume, improve lip shape, add definition (such as the cupid’s bow), correct symmetry, and reduce the appearance of fine lines around the lips.

The most common type of filler used is hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally-occurring substance in the body that holds water and provides plumpness. HA fillers are favored because they tend to have a good safety profile, are reversible, and offer flexible, customisable results.  However, Lip volume procedures are temporary, usually lasting 6 to 12 months.

Benefits of Lip Volume Adjustments

Increased volume and shape

Fuller lips, more defined edges & improved lip-outline.

Symmetry correction

Can balance uneven lips (where one side is thinner than the other)

Smoothing of fine lines

Lip volume can fill in lip lines and refine texture.

Hydration & softness

HA fillers attract moisture, which can make lips feel softer & more hydrated.

Non-Surgical & Quick results

Because it’s non-surgical, recovery is faster; most people resume normal activities soon after

Minimal Downtime

Quick sessions with little to no interruption to daily life.

Risks of Lip Volume Adjustments

While Lip volume treatments are relatively safe when done by a qualified & experienced practitioner using approved products. However, there are possible risks and side effects. Common side effects may include:

Swelling, redness, bruising or tenderness around the lips, usually lasting a few days.

Minor bleeding or discomfort at treatment sites.

Small lumps or unevenness, although these usually resolve over days or weeks.

Infection, if sterility is not maintained.

Allergic reactions, which are rare.

Overfilling leading to unnatural shape, stiffness, or difficulty in lip movement.

Any concerns following the treatment should be discussed promptly with the practitioner.

Lip Volume Treatment Process

The Lip Volume procedure generally includes the following steps:

Pre-Treatment Consultation

Your practitioner, Linda, will assess your lips and facial anatomy, discuss what you want, and outcomes (shape, volume, definition), review medical history (including allergy history), procedure and set realistic expectations. If you decide to proceed, the area will be cleaned using aseptic technique and then a high-grade numbing cream over your lips for 10 minutes.

Lip Volume Treatment

For the treatment you will be laying down with your head at a 45-degree angle. Using a very fine needle to inject the filler into the treatment areas. The amount of filler, depth and placement depend on your anatomy and goals. Discomfort is very minor, short and ends when the treatment ends. A single session usually lasts 30 minutes, although it may vary.

Recovery & Aftercare

Once the treatment is over you will be able to return work. There will be some swelling and we advise the following:

  • No hot or cold liquids for 2 hours.
  • No massaging of the area unless advised to do so
  • No strenuous exercise for 48 hours
  • No exposure to sun or tanning beds for 24 hours
  • Swelling will be most noticeable for the initial 72 hours and in the morning.
